Karl `Skip` Reins, Age:63

Karl R. Reins II, 63, of Chicago, IL, passed away on February 19, 2023.  Karl, fondly known as “Skip”, was born to Karl R. and Pearl (nee Johnson) Reins on November 7, 1959, in Chicago, IL.

Growing up, the famous 'Kiddieland' made a big impression on him.  One of his first 'adult' jobs was with a carnival.  He would travel from city to city where he would put the rides up and 'tear down' as is said in the business.  This led him to his profession as a truck driver for various freight companies.  Skip was a proud teamster who traveled around the country delivering American goods.   One of Karl's favorite assignments was transporting the equipment for the band, "Mr. Blotto".  He came to know the band personally and took pride in making sure their equipment arrived safe and on time to their event sites.  Karl was a very talented musician who played iwth his own band, "Just Another Band".

Before becoming a teamster, Karl proudly served in the United States Coast Guard.  The time of his service to our country left a lasting impression on him.  It was important for him that people understood the difference between Memorial Day and Veteran's Day.  (There's a huge and important difference that every citizen should know, ask his family and friends if you don't.)

As a true gentleman, he cared deeply for his family and friends, doing whatever he could to make sure everyone was well taken care of.  Skip had many hobbies, but his two favorites were rocking out to good music and having the wind blowing through his hair.  With his Harley Davidson below him, he was the Master of the Road and there wasn't a road he couldn't tame.  He was never far from a good time and always had a bottle of Jack Daniels nearby. Skip was the definition of a true Patriot.  He will be greatly missed.

Skip is survived by his Loving Wife, Eileen (nee O'Connor); Treasured Daughters: Kristin (Ulysses)  and Stephanie (Eric); Cherished Grandchildren: Tessa, Kayla, Aiden, and Memphis; Favorite Sister, Cheryl (late Wayne) Hoffmann;  Favorite Niece: Samantha Hoffmann, and his Sister-in-Law, Debbie Garo (Jim Del Sasso).  He was preceeded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul William Reins.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 4, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Olson Burke/Sullivan Funeral and Cremation Center, 6471 N. Northwest Hwy., Chicago, IL 60631.
